Disaster Management Force personnel have been keeping a watch on the sea resort towns of West Bengal while preventing tourists from going to the beach, PTI reported. Tripura too made arrangements by setting up disaster management control rooms and deploying paramilitary forces, NDRF and civil defence personnel for emergencies.

Meanwhile, the Met department has forecast heatwave-like situations in isolated parts of India, including Vidarbha in Maharashtra, Odisha and the Gangetic West Bengal. The maximum temperatures are likely to rise by 2-4°C in many parts of east India during the next three days and by 2-3°C over parts of south India. In northwest India and Gujarat, the maximum temperature is predicted to fall by about 2°C and 2-3°C, respectively.

According to the IMD, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttarakhand, and West and East Rajasthan are also likely to experience dust storms today.

Amid such conditions, it is advised to stay indoors and hydrated, take frequent cool baths and wear thin, loose cotton garments. It is recommended to carry an umbrella when stepping outside.
