Watch “Tare Zameen Par”,was the Delhi High Court’s advise to a person who approached it by describing dyslexia as a mental disorder.
Perceiving that the petitioner did not have clear understanding of dyslexia,a bench headed by Chief Justice A P Shah asked him to go through the film, which is about a boy suffering from the learning disorder.
“You must have VCD at home. See Tare Zameen Par to understand about the problem of dyslexia,” the court said.
The court also pulled up the petitioner,S C Jain, for terming dyslexia as a mental disorder and directed him to appear personally before it.
“Dyslexia is not a disease. It is not a mental disorder.
Let the petitioner appear before us personally. We would like to ask him about the disease,” the court said while pulling up the petitioner counsel for filing frivolous petition.
The court was hearing a PIL filed by Jain seeking its direction to the Centre to appoint clinical psychologist in hospitals for the treatment of mental disease including Dyslexia.
