Villagers file complaint against Dinakaran on land issue

A section of residents of a Tamil Nadu village has lodged a police complaint against Karnataka High Court Chief Justice P D Dinakaran.

A section of residents of a Tamil Nadu village has lodged a police complaint against Karnataka High Court Chief Justice P D Dinakaran alleging that he had removed fences around government land to “destroy evidence” that it was in his possession.

V M Raman,one of 66 complainants at Kaverirajapuram,said that they had filed the complaint on Wednesday alleging that the judge had occupied the land and that fencing there had been removed.

Justice Dinakaran,whose elevation to the Supreme Court has been put on hold by the apex court collegium following allegations of he amassing wealth,has been accused of encroaching upon government land.

The complaint,registered with the Kanakama Chatiram police station in Tiruvallur district,has been entered in a Community Service Register,which allows the concerned people to arrive at a possible settlement,Raman said.

Meanwhile,police said as per procedure,a receipt has been issued to the villagers after entering the complaint in the Register.

“We will enquire,” they said without elaborating and declined to entertain any further queries.

The villagers said they have also sought police protection. Copies of the complaint have been sent to the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police,they said.
