Son gets capital punishment,wife lifer for man’s murder

A court in Orissa’s Nabarangpur district today awarded death sentence to a person for killing his father in connivance with his mother.

Additional Sessions Judge,Nabarangpur,Girish Kumar Mishra found the mother-son duo guilty of killing M Surinarayan.

The Judge ordered that Surinarayan’s son M Sunil Sekhar be hanged till death and his wife M Rupavati life imprisonment for the gruesome murder.

M Surinarayan,who was the president of the district truck owners’ association,was found murdered on July 24,2005 in his house.

The police had arrested and chargesheeted his son M Sunil Sekhar and wife M Rupavati accusing both of them of murdering Surinarayan.

Earlier,on August 19 the court had reserved the order after holding the duo guilty and convicted them under section 302 and 201 of IPC. The quantum punishment was pronounced today.

After formation of Nabarangpur District in 1992,this is the first case when the sessions court here awarded capital punishment to an accused.
