The Gujarat High Court on Friday allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take into custody former Gujarat Minister of State for Home Amit Shah for two days.
Shah will be in CBI remand for two days from Saturday.
The CBI had earlier sought a 10-day remand of Shah to interrogate him for his alleged role in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case. This was, however, rejected by the lower CBI magisterial court. But Justice Akil Kureshi on Friday partially allowed CBI’s request on Friday after the investigating agency knocked its doors the day before.
The High Court however accede Shah’s counsel’s demand that the interrogation be videographed. This demand was challenged by the CBI.
Supreme Court advocate K T S Tulsi argued on behalf of the CBI while veteran lawyer Ram Jethmalani is representing Shah.
Shah,a close aide of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, was arrested by the CBI in connection with the fake encounter case and has been charged with murder, abduction and extortion.
