Private hospital fined Rs 1 lakh for negligence

Usha Sachdeva,Director of Sachdeva Hospital,denied medical facilities to a pregnant woman.

A Consumer Forum has slapped a fine of Rs one lakh on a private hospital here for denying medical facilities to a pregnant woman.

Acting on a complaint filed by Komal Kathuria,the forum found Usha Sachdeva,Director of Sachdeva Hospital,guilty of medical negligence and deficiency in service and directed her to compensate Kathuria by paying Rs one lakh.

The Forum also directed the accused doctor to pay Rs 5,500 to the complainant for her litigation expenses.
