Police register case against YSR kin,four others

Police had caught six lorries,with 102 tons of fertilisers worth Rs 8.21 lakh,at Alankanupalli.

Kadapa Mayor P Ravindranath Reddy and four others persons were booked for their alleged involvement in illegal transportation of fertilisers.

Ravindranath Reddy and his others partners in a fertiliser plant were booked under IPC Section 420 (cheating) and relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act,Circle Inspector Venkatadri said.

Police had caught six lorries,with 102 tons of fertilisers worth Rs 8.21 lakh,at Alankanupalli near here on Tuesday last while they were allegedly being transported illegally to Anantapur district.

The consignment without proper bills was being transported from Sri Balaji Agri Fertiliser factory,owned by Ravindranath Reddy,the brother-in-law of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and four others,police said.

Police had also arrested six lorry drivers and two others on Tuesday. The bills produced by the drivers did not tally with the fertilisers loaded in the lorries,they said.
