Man held for murdering 45-yr-old woman in Noida

The flat was leased out to a man named Ram Niwas Sharma (53), who works as a sales executive with a private firm in Delhi.

“Mahendra kept knocking on the door but did not get a response. He tried pushing the door and found it unlocked. He entered the flat and found Sita dead in the bedroom. Her face was covered in blood,” Vishwajeet Srivastava, DSP (Noida), told Newsline.

Police said Mahendra immediately called Sharma but his cellphone was switched off. He then called police. A post-mortem examination was conducted on the body. Initial findings say Sita was murdered on Tuesday night or early Wednesday.

“The autopsy reports says that she could have been suffocated due to which she started bleeding from her mouth and ears, giving the impression that she had been bludgeoned,” DSP Srivastava said.

Initially, police thought Sita to be Sharma’s wife. But later, they found that she had come to Noida a while ago and had met Sharma a month ago.

“At the time, she was unwell and Sharma had ensured that she received treatment. Following this, they entered into a physical relationship. Three days ago, she came to stay with Sharma and he had introduced her as his wife to his landlord and neighbour,” a senior police officer said.

Soon after Sita’s body was discovered, police put Sharma’s cellphone number on surveillance. On Friday evening, when he switched on his phone, police zeroed in on his location and arrested him from Noida.

Police said Sharma had murdered Sita after she insisted that they live together. “Sharma was married and didn’t want to live with her. So he killed her,” Srivastava said.
