An inebirated man hacked his wife to death in the presence of her son at nearby Vazhapadi and later tried to commit suicide in the same way,police said. The man had come home drunk last night and picked up a quarrel with his wife after which he hacked her to death,police quoted their son as having said. The man has been hospitalised. In another murder at Kumarapalayam near Namakkal,about 51 km from here,a drunk construction worker killed his colleague by smashing his head with a stone after an altercation and later informed police about it,they said.
