Jilted lover shoots down minor in UP, surrenders

A murder case has been registered against him and he was sent to jail.

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by a jilted lover who later surrendered before the police in Narhera village here.

Himanshi, a class VIII student, was shot dead yesterday by Yogendra (22), when she was on her way home from school here, a police spokesperson said on Saturday.

In a complaint, the girl’s grandfather, Baljeet Singh said the accused was the owner of a beauty parlour and used to stalk her following which she complained to her family.

Her family took up the issue with Yogendra’s family, angering him and he shot her dead. He then went to the nearest police station and surrendered, police said.

A murder case has been registered against him and he was sent to jail today, they said.

During interrogation, the accused told police that he killed Himanshi as he was in love with her but she turned down his proposal and complained to her parents about him, police added.
