A Delhi court extended till March 31 next year the interim bail of A S Bindra,the industrialist father of Olympic gold medallist shooter Abhinav Bindra,in two cases of allegedly defrauding a bank and a finance company. "The interim bail of the accused is extended till March 31 next year," Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ajay Pandey said. While extending the interim protection,the court considered the fact that shooter Bindra,who has stood as guarantor in the compromise agreements entered into between the financial institutions and his father,has given cheques which are to realised till March 31 next year. Meanwhile,it also asked senior Bindra to cooperate with the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police in the probe into the two cases lodged against him for allegedly cheating IndusInd Bank Ltd and the Apple Finance Ltd to the tune of Rs 9.31 crore. Earlier,the court had granted the interim bail to Bindra till today on furnishing of a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh and two sureties of like amount. It had also asked him to surrender his passport in the court within a week. Bindra,Managing Director of Chandigarh-based company Punjab Meats Ltd,was arrested on May 13 from his farm house at Zikarpur in Punjab following the issuance of a non-bailable warrant.
