Aunt of conman Jadeja arrested from Ahmedabad

One more relative of conman Ashok Jadeja was arrested,CID (Crime) officials said.

The accused identified as Maanbai,aunt of Jadeja,was arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting her nephew for duping people in the name of god,they said.

Jadeja,along with his wife Neetu,was arrested early this month for duping people of crores of rupees through his scheme of tripling the amount they invested with him.

Besides Maanbai,ten other relatives of Jadeja who were involved in the multi-crore scam were arrested from Patan district last week.

Some of Jadeja’s agents,who used to collect money,have also been arrested and are being interrogated.

The arrests were made during the searches conducted at their houses to recover the money they had collected from people.

Investigating officer in the case,R K Patel,said that the scam,spread over many states,could be to the tune of Rs 400-500 crore.

“Looking at the recovery made during searches at various places and bank lockers,the scam could be anywhere between Rs 400-500 crore,” Patel said.
