Acid attack leaves woman critically injured

One person has been arrested in this connection and is being interrogated,said DIG.

A woman was critically injured when four persons allegedly threw acid at her when she resisted their attempts to drag her into their Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV),a senior police official said today.

“The men first tried to drag the 27-year-old woman into the SUV in Barra area last evening. When they met resistance,they threw acid at her hands and legs,” said DIG Rajesh Rai.

They then threw the woman on the road following which she was admitted to a hospital where her condition was stated to be critical,he said.

A medical examination will be done to ascertain if the victim was sexually assaulted,the DIG said.
