Tripura Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan on Friday said the northeastern state has the third-lowest crime rate in the country. “A small force with a small state, but we are among the top in the country in terms of controlling crime,” said the DGP while speaking at a quiz competition held in Agartala. “This is an organisation that laid down more lives than any other force since Independence. Nearly 37,000-38,000… laid down their lives while fighting various problems like insurgency, terrorism, crimes, etc. to ensure the peaceful existence of our brothers and sisters…” Ranjan added. He also claimed that the Tripura Police were a model for anti-insurgency operations. “All the police officers on the ground are part of the model that is taught all over the country. The force that can control insurgency without one human rights issue,” he said. The DGP stressed that it was important to build a better society and a better future for the younger generation and requested youngsters to share their suggestions with the administration.
