Computer centre owner in UP’s Aligarh dies by suicide after slitting woman’s throat

The computer centre owner who was married and the woman instructor were allegedly in a relationship, according to the police.

A 27-year-old computer centre owner in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district died by suicide on Friday after killing a 22-year-old woman instructor at the institute by slitting her throat, the police said.

The Shine Institute, a Computer Education Point that provides basic computer training, is situated near the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) unit under the jurisdiction of the Quarsi police station in Aligarh.

The police said that a suicide note was recovered from the centre where the owner Lalit Kumar allegedly wrote that he had been in a relationship with the instructor, Yamini Kumari, for the last four years. Kumar was married and Kumari was a divorcee and was pressuring him to marry her, the note reportedly said.

“The decision is mutual and none should be held responsible for the incident,” Kumar wrote, according to the police.

The police said that after leaving office, Kumar used to drop Kumari at her home. On Friday, when they did not show up, his family members rushed to the centre but the shutter was down.

“When the family members could not locate them till late in the night, they went to the centre again and opened the shutter…We have recovered a long suicide note, a knife and a country-made pistol from the place,” said Vijayakanth Sharma, the in-charge of Quarsi police station in Aligarh.
