2 BSF men killed in Chhattisgarh encounter

This comes six days after two BSF men were killed in the same area when Maoists carried out an IED explosion close to their motorcycle while they were on an area domination exercise.

TWO BSF personnel were killed and one injured in an encounter with Maoists in Pakhanjur area of Kanker district early on Sunday.

This comes six days after two BSF men were killed in the same area when Maoists carried out an IED explosion close to their motorcycle while they were on an area domination exercise.

P Sundar Raj, DIG (Anti Naxal Operations), said the exchange of fire took place in the forests near Mahla camp under Partapur police station limits. “A BSF team of the 114th Battalion was returning after carrying out an operation. Around 3.45 am there was a heavy exchange of fire from both sides near Barkot village, and two jawans were killed,” he said.

The two constables killed in the firefight were identified as Lokender Singh and Mukhdiyar Singh, belonging to Rajasthan and Punjab respectively. Sandeep Dey suffered injuries. “Two others suffered minor injuries,” a senior police official said. The police said the condition of Dey was stable.
