Chhattisgarh High Court quashes 3 FIRs against ex-ADGP

The order came from a division bench comprising High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Ravindra Kumar Agrawal.

FIITJEEAishwarya, a student of Convent of Jesus Mary in Connaught Place, left the institute after two months of coaching as she wasn’t getting time to finish her school homework and assignments.

The Chhattisgarh High Court on Wednesday quashed three FIRs registered against former Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Gurjinder Pal Singh, who was suspended in July 2021 and three cases of corruption, sedition and extortion were registered against him during the previous Congress government.

The order came from a division bench comprising High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Ravindra Kumar Agrawal.

Singh’s lawyer Himanshu Pandey said, “The court quashed all the three cases as there was no merit in them… All these years, my client as well as his family were put through a lot of torture. Hundreds of policemen raided his home and his relatives were harassed… his parents were also made accused in the case…”

Singh, a 1994-batch officer, was earlier Additional Director General (ADG) of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and also served as Inspector General (IG), Raipur. He was posted as head of the police training academy before being suspended in 2021. In January 2022, he was arrested in a corruption case and was later granted bail by the High Court.
