BJP national convention: 144-member party delegation from Tripura leaves for New Delhi

The BJP national convention will outline the party’s political strategy for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Around 11,500 delegates are expected to join the convention from across the country this year.

A 144-member strong BJP delegation from Tripura left for New Delhi to join the party’s national convention scheduled to be held on February 17 and 18. Around 11,500 delegates are expected to join the convention from across the country this year.

The national convention will outline the party’s political strategy for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, said BJP leaders.

Speaking to media persons ahead of departure from the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharya said, “This special national convention was called keeping the coming Lok Sabha elections in mind. Delegates from across the country would join and work under the leadership of PM Modi. CMs, ministers, and others from different states… would join the meeting. The bugle for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections would be sounded from the convention.”

Bhattacharya added that the slogan for the national convention is ‘Phir Se Ek Bar, Modi Sarkar (Modi government for one more time)’.

East Tripura (ST reserved) MP Rebati Tripura said he expects the convention to discuss strategies for achieving the target of winning 370 seats as set by PM Modi for the party.

Former deputy chief minister Jishnu Devvarma said the national convention is a strategy-formulating platform of the BJP.

Animal Resource Development Minister Sudhangshu Das said, “We shall discuss how to win both Lok Sabha seats in Tripura with a higher margin.”

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, and Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder – who were part of the delegation that left for New Delhi – declined to comment when asked about the national convention.
