Three Bangladeshi nationals, including a four-year-old child, were held on Tuesday for illegally entering Tripura with the intention to move to other states via train, the Government Railway Police (GRP) said on Wednesday.

The two arrested persons — a married couple — along with their daughter came to Tripura without any valid documents on the night of November 4. According to the GRP, they could not identify the route through which they entered the state.

After their arrest, Mohammad Jalal Awladar, 40, and Ruma Begum, 25, residents of Bagerhat district of Bangladesh, were produced before a local court on Wednesday.

The couple was arrested while they were entering through a parcel gate at the Agartala Railway Station in a joint operation of the Government Railway police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and the Border Security Force (BSF) on the basis of secret information.

“We are investigating to find the route through which they entered the state and to trace if there are other people involved in it,” said officer in-charge of Agartala Government Railway police station Tapas Das.

When asked, the official said that 25-30 Bangladeshis were arrested in Agartala in one month for illegal intrusion.
