Security measures have been stepped up across J&K ahead of the three-day visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah beginning Sunday evening.
Initially, Shah was slated to visit on April 7-8, but it was advanced by a day in view of BJP’s foundation day celebrations on April 6.
While there is no official word from the party about Shah’s programme, sources said that during his visit he will review security situation as well as development works at high-level meetings.
Shah will arrive Sunday evening and head to Raj Bhawan. Later, he will hold a meeting with BJP leaders and legislators at party headquarters. The meeting will also be attended by Union Minister Jitendra Singh, besides party MPs Jugal Kishore Sharma and Ghulam Ali Khatana, party’s J&K unit chief Sat Sharma and general secretary (organisation) Ashok Koul.
During the meeting, he is likely to take feedback on the issues facing people and the ongoing development works in the UT.
On Monday, he will fly to Srinagar where he is likely to hold a high-level security meet. He is also likely to visit the international border in Kathua on April 7.
