The three-day Assembly session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly is scheduled to begin from September 4, Assembly Speaker Biswabandhu Sen said on Wednesday.
The decision was taken at the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting held at the state Assembly.
“As the state is reeling under the flood situation, it has been decided unanimously to hold the Assembly session for three days and not more than that. The Assembly session will be held from September 4 to 6,” Sen told the media. On the first day of the session, there would be an important discussion on the flood situation, he added.
“The discussion may continue for two to three hours. As the Assembly sessions run till 5 pm, we may extend the duration of the sessions beyond that,” he said.
Speaking to the media after the BAC meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the three-day long Assembly session would include private member resolutions, introduction and discussions on three Bills apart from a discussion on the flood.
Meanwhile, sources said the government will introduce a Bill to allow MLAs to enjoy facilities, such as pensions, reimbursement of medical expenses etc, after the end of tenure. The Bill will also ensure MLAs are entitled to the facilities even if his or her tenure lasts for one term or just a day.
