‘Wore dresses permitted under law’: Actor Honey Rose accuses businessman Boby Chemmanur of obscene remarks
Before filing the police complaint, Honey Rose had taken to social media and declared that she was going wage war against all those who made obscene comments about her.

Kochi city police on Tuesday registered a case against businessman Boby Chemmanur following a complaint by Malayalam actor Honey Rose that he had made obscene remarks about her on social media.
Honey Rose had filed a complaint Monday against around 30 people after being flooded with sexist comments on social media.
Subsequently, police said that they had arrested one Shaji, a 60-year-old from Kumbalam in Kochi, in connection with the case. They later booked Chemmanur, also known as Boche, under section 75 (sexual harassment) of BNS and section 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the IT Act.
Before filing the police complaint, Honey Rose had taken to social media and declared that she was going wage war against all those who made obscene comments about her.
“It is part of my job to attend programmes to which I am invited. I am not against comments on my attire or creative criticism. (But) there should be restraint in the comments. I have only worn dresses that are permitted under prevailing laws in the country,” she said.
Honey Rose began her acting career in 2005, but came to prominence in the Malayalam film industry with her role in the 2012 movie Trivandrum Lodge. Apart from Malayalam films, she has also done several movies in the Tamil, Kannada and Telugu industries.
Many film professionals, as well as the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), have extended support to Honey Rose. In a statement, AMMA said it condemned attempts to insult the actor and promised legal assistance to her.
Boby Chemmanur is the director of Chemmanur International Jewellers and has been active in public life in Kerala. He made news in 2012 when he brought Argentinian football legend Maradona to Kannur after roping him in as the brand ambassador for Chemmanur Jewellers. In 2014, he ran the length of Kerala with the stated aim of raising awareness about the importance of blood donation.
