Uttarakhand’s per capita income higher than national average, grew 11.3%, economic survey shows

Ahead of the Budget session in Uttarakhand starting February 18, the Department of Planning’s Economic Survey has estimated the per capita income of Uttarakhand for the financial year 2024-25 to be Rs 2.74 lakh.

Principal Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram said an 11.33% increase has been recorded this year compared to the last financial year. This is higher than the national per capita income for 2024-25, estimated at Rs 2,00,162, according to the National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India.

Sundaram also said that the Gross State Domestic Product at current prices is projected to reach Rs 3.78 lakh crore in FY 2024-25, compared to an estimated Rs 3.32 lakh crore in 2023-24, with a projected growth of 13.59%.

Similarly, in terms of Real Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) at constant prices (base year 2011-12), the economy is expected to reach Rs 2.17 lakh crore in 2024-25, up from an estimated Rs 2.04 lakh crore in 2023-24.

Sundaram said smart meters installation scheme will reduce complaints related to meter readings and bills. Also, the current replacement of smart meters will be carried out free of charge, he said. As per the Centre’s directive, only postpaid meters are currently being installed. However, consumers who opt for prepaid meters will receive a 4% discount on electricity tariffs for domestic connections and a 3% discount for other categories, he said. As part of the plan, by June 2026, smart meters will be installed for 15.88 lakh consumers.
