10 rounds fired at house: Manipur journalist

The incident took place around 3 am in intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday when Yambem and his family members were sleeping. No one was injured. Bullet marks were allegedly found on the wall of the house.

Unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire at the Imphal West residence of veteran journalist and the founder of a new political party, Yambem Laba.

The incident took place around 3 am in intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday when Yambem and his family members were sleeping. No one was injured. Bullet marks were allegedly found on the wall of the house.

In his complaint filed with the Imphal West police, Yambem alleged that 10 rounds were fired at the house. “This is a political attack because I recently spoke on behalf of my party, being vocal against the Biren Singh-led government. This can be the only reason,” he said. Yambem is a Special Representative with The Statesman. Earlier this year, he formed a new party the Good Governance Party.
