UGC adds these institutes in their list of fake universities, check names here
The UGC emphasised that degrees from these institutions are not valid for academic or professional purposes and urged the students to verify the recognition status of any university before seeking admission.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has declared 22 institutions as fake, which were operating without proper recognition and falsely presenting themselves as legitimate universities. These entities are not authorised to confer degrees under the UGC Act, 1956, making any qualifications obtained from them academically and professionally invalid.
The recent case is of the Institute of Management and Engineering in Kotla Mubarakpur, Delhi. The UGC clarified that this institute is neither established under any Central or State Act nor recognised under Sections 2(f) or 3 of the UGC Act. As a result, its engineering degrees are not valid for academic or professional use.
According to the list shared by the Commission as of October 2025, Delhi has the highest number of such fake universities, followed by Uttar Pradesh. For the sake of the student community, we are sharing a state-wise list of all the fake universities notified by UGC:
