JEE Main 2024 Session 2 Exam Updates: The second day of the JEE Main BTech and BE paper or paper 1 was held on April 5 in two slots, from 9 am to 12 noon, and between 3 pm and 6 pm. The National Testing Agency (NTA) on April 4 started the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) session 2 exams. The eligibility test for admission to the engineering colleges in India will continue till April 12.
According to the JEE Main 2024 exam day guidelines, students will have to take a print of the downloaded copy of the JEE Main admit card to the exam centres. The first shift of Day 1 exams was rated as moderate on the difficulty level. In terms of order of difficulty, Mathematics was rated as moderate while Physics and Chemistry were rated as easy.
JEE Main April 2024 will be conducted between April 4 and 12. While the paper 1 (BE/ BTech) will be held on April 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9, paper 2 held for BArch and BPlanning will be conducted on April 12. JEE Main 2024 paper 1 exam in all the days will be conducted in two shifts and paper 2 will be held in the morning shift alone.

Math
- Moderately tough. Questions were asked from all chapters with emphasis on chapters of calculus and coordinate geometry. Questions were also asked from matrices and determinants, 3D geometry, vectors, permutation and combination, probability, complex numbers, statistics, progressions, quadratic equations, function, limits, continuity and differentiability, application of derivative, definite integrals, differential equations, area, straight line, circle, conic sections with mixed concept questions. The numerical section had lengthy calculations from chapters of calculus and coordinate geometry. A few questions were reported as lengthy and tricky. Few students reported errors in two questions with insufficient data.
Physics
- Easy paper. Questions were asked from kinematics, gravitation, rotational motion, laws of motion, magnetism, ray optics, capacitance, electromagnetic induction, AC circuits, modern physics, work power and energy, heat and thermodynamics. Numerical based questions were lengthy but easy. Few fact-based questions from Class 12 chapters of NCERT were also asked.
Chemistry
- Easy paper. Organic and inorganic chemistry were given more weightage compared to physical chemistry. Questions were asked from periodic table, chemical bonding, d and f block elements, electrochemistry, mole concept, coordination compounds, p-block elements, general organic chemistry, alcohol, ether and phenol, biomolecules, amines, aryl and alkyl halides with mixed concept questions. Some fact-based questions from NCERT were asked.
In terms of order of difficulty – mathematics was moderately tough while physics and chemistry were easy. Overall, this paper was of Moderate level as per students.

Mathematics paper in the first shift was moderate to difficult based on students’ feedback, Ajay Kumar Sharma said while sharing feedback on the exam. Questions from calculus were dominant followed by vectors and 3D, matrices and determinants. Questions were also asked from quadratic equations and binomial theorem in the paper. Almost all the topics were covered. The quality of the questions was good and the paper was a bit lengthy because of the Maths part. In comparison to Class 11 and Class 12 portions, most of the questions were asked from Class 12 syllabus only.
JEE Main 2024 Session 2 Live Updates: Exam analysis of physics paper
According to the feedback received from students, Ajay Kumar Sharma said that the physics part in shift 1 today was easy and straightforward.
Questions from thermodynamics, magnetism, current electricity, modern physics and electrostatistics were duly represented in the paper, he added.
Most of the questions were asked from the 12th class syllabus. In comparison to the phase-I physics papers, physics questions are on the same side, the expert said.

JEE Main 2024 Session 2 Live Updates: Use of UFM on day 1
On the first day of JEE Main, one case of impersonation and nine cases of UFM were caught. NTA has deployed AI tools, iFace to ascertain the identity of candidates through cross-verifying the photo on the JEE Main admit card with the live photograph of the candidate that is taken at the exam center, mandatory frisking, EKYC etc.
NTA has chalked out a detailed plan to execute JEE Main 2024 April exam. Control Rooms for strict vigil and monitoring were set up at NTA, New Delhi. Candidates appearing for engineering entrance exam JEE Main 2024 will have to undergo frisking and biometric attendance after toilet breaks as well, according to NTA officials.
“The move is aimed at ensuring there are no cases of use of unfair means or proxy attendance. We have strict mechanisms in place already but the idea is to make the exam completely foolproof to ensure there are zero incidents,” NTA Director Subodh Kumar Singh said.
