Saying that the IIMs this year will get a larger pool of talent to choose from, Professor Kunal, Faculty (Finance), IIM Kashipur said: "The increased number of registrations indicates increased demand for MBA courses at IIM and other reputed management institutes. Now, these institutes will get a larger pool of talent to select the most suitable candidates for their respective courses and maintain their target of diversification in terms of gender and educational background (technical and non-technical)."

CAT slot 1 analysis as done by Bhushan Bapat, Head of Academics, CAT Division at Supergrads by Toprankers.
According to Ramnath Kanakadandi, Senior Course Director CAT , T.I.M.E., a net score of 47-50 should be sufficient for the ones who appeared for the CAT 2023 exam in the first slot to fetch at least one IIM call.
For DILR, the senior course director said, a net score of 9 to 11 would be a decent score for a test-taker to be able to get 85 percentile, while for VARC and QA, the decent scores are 15–17 and 8-10 respectively.
There will be no negative marks for non-MCQ type questions. There is, however, a negative marking of -1 for every wrong MCQ question.
Over 3.3 lakh students registered for CAT 2023 exam. According to IIM Lucknow, there is an increase in CAT registration to 30 per cent from last year. Last year, there was an increase of 11 per cent in registrations.

Quantitative Aptitude in CAT 2023 Slot 2, according to CATKing, was tougher than last year and the morning slot. The questions, while lengthy to read, were generally easy to solve for those whose concepts are clear. The exam started with algebra. Seven questions came together back to back intimidating the students who feared Algebra Module. Notably, the geometry questions were limited to two, deviating from the past trend. CAT 2023 slot 2 displayed a fair mix of question types, presenting a balanced challenge to the candidates on the conceptual front. Selecting the questions that don’t eat up time was inevitable, CATKing added.
The DILR section in CAT 2023 Slot 2 ranged from moderate to difficult, CATKing analysed. While the questions were not overly conditional, solving the set was crucial for answering all questions accurately, it added.
The Verbal Ability section in CAT 2023 slot 2 exam, according to Sumit Singh Gandhi (Rahul), CEO and Founder, CATKing, was relatively straightforward, with a mix of diverse passages. The questions were predominantly inference-based, with a few testing factual knowledge. Overall, the Verbal Ability section leaned more toward the manageable side.
Reading comprehension was dominated in the verbal section. There were four passages with four Questions each. More inference-based questions and not factual, there were close options too so it needed little focus while solving.

Step 1: Calculate the total number of candidates (N) who appeared for CAT including in the morning, afternoon and evening sessions.
Step 2: Assign a rank (r), based on the scaled scores obtained in the QA section, to all candidates who appeared for CAT. In the case of two or more candidates obtaining identical scaled scores in the QA section, assign identical ranks to all those candidates.
As an example, suppose exactly two candidates obtain the highest scaled score in the QA section, then both of those candidates are assigned a rank of 1. Moreover, the candidates obtaining the second highest scaled score in the QA section are assigned a rank of 3 and so on.
Step 3: Calculate the percentile score (P) of a candidate with rank (r) in the QA section as: ? = (? − ?) / N x 100
Step 4: Round off the calculated percentile score (P) of a candidate up to two decimal points

The normalised score for CAT 2023 is calculated through these steps:
IIM Lucknow will conduct the CAT 2023 exam on Sunday, November 26, in three shifts.
For reporting purposes, Scaled Scores for each section (Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Section III: Quantitative Ability (QA)) and Total along with the Percentiles shall be published.
