HC stays JEE counselling results

The Calcutta High Court stayed the results of the second round of JEE counselling scheduled to be published.

The Calcutta High Court today stayed the results of the second round of JEE counselling scheduled to be published tomorrow.

Justice Girish Chandra Gupta said the process of admission and counselling was arbitrary and that the JEE Board should issue an advertisement declaring the vacant seats in engineering colleges before every round of counselling so that students could exercise their options.

The court held that the students can give an option for the college in the first round of counselling but could not do so in the second or third round of counseling, which was not correct.

Advocate Sukanta Das,counsel of the petitioner said the current process makes it difficult for the students to know about the vacant seats created in the colleges after the first round of counselling.
