IRS officer, his mother, sister found dead at Kochi home
The decomposed bodies of Manish and his sister were found hanging in different rooms, while their mother’s body was found on a cot. Police said the discovery was made at the official quarters of the central excise and customs department at Kakkanad in Kochi.

An Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, his mother and his sister were found dead at his official residence in Kochi on Thursday evening.
Police identified the bodies as those of Manish Vijay (44), his mother, Shakunthala Agarwal, and his sister, Shalini.
The decomposed bodies of Manish and his sister were found hanging in different rooms, while their mother’s body was found on a cot. Police said the discovery was made at the official quarters of the central excise and customs department at Kakkanad in Kochi.
Manish was an additional commissioner with the central excise and customs and had most recently been working with the CGST (Central Goods and Servies Tax) audit wing in Kochi.
The family hailed from Ranchi in Jharkhand.
Police said they have registered a case of unnatural death. Manish went on leave for a week but did not report for duty once the leave period was over.
On Thursday evening, a junior officer at the CGST office went looking for him and discovered his and his sister’s body. Police were called, and when they opened the door, they found their mother’s body too.
Police are probing exactly when the deaths took place between February 13 and 20. Manish was a bachelor, police said, and his sister was employed with the coal department.
