Muslim community puts on hold Eid-e-Milad celebrations to mark end of Ganesh Chaturthi

This comes after they put on hold celebrating the festival on September 28, which was also the last day of the 11-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

A day after Eid-e-Milad, members of the Muslim community took out religious processions in different parts of the state to celebrate the festival on Friday.

This comes after they put on hold celebrating the festival on September 28, which was also the last day of the 11-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Such processions were taken out at many places, including in Surat and Ahmedabad.

With both festivals falling on the same day, members of the city’s Ganesh Utsav Samiti and the Eid-e-Milad committee held a meeting with the police on Monday.

Keeping in mind the law and order like situation, the religious leaders from both committees came out with a solution.

In the meeting, Muslim community leader Kadir Pirzada announced, “First the elder brother will take out procession on Thursday and a day later, the younger brother will take out procession in the city.”

Different Ganesh mandals on Thursday took out processions in Surat from Zampa Bazaar. They were welcomed by members of the Muslim community in the presence of BJP state president C R Paatil, MoS Home Harsh Sanghavi.
On Friday, members of the Muslim community took out Eid-e-Milad processions in the city. Surat Mayor Daxesh Mawani, BJP MLA Arvind Rana, Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Tomar and Hindu priests welcomed the processions.

In Ahmedabad, too, Muslims participated in the Eid-e-Milad processions on Friday. ‘

The processions were taken out from Jamalpur Darwaja, Bapunagar, Rakhiyal and Gompitur areas. The procession from Jamalpur Darwaja were welcomed by Jagannath temple priest Dilip Das Maharaj and police officers.
