GSRTC to run 2,200 extra buses from Surat during Diwali, says Sanghavi
The travel fare per person from Surat to Amreli is Rs 400, to Savarkundla is Rs 425, Bhavnagar Rs 350, Mahuva Rs 405, Rajkot Rs 385, Junagadh Rs 435, Jamnagar Rs 445, Ahmedabad Rs 280, Dahod Rs 305 and Chhota Udepur Rs 275.

The state government has decided to run 2,200 extra Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) buses from Surat to Saurashtra, North Gujarat, Maharashtra, and other districts between November 7 and November 11 in view of the Diwali rush, said Minister of State for Home and Transport Harsh Sanghavi in Surat Friday.
He also warned of strict actions against private bus owners who raise travel fare to exploit the demand during the festive season. “Lakhs of people from Saurashtra, North Gujarat and other parts of the state live in Surat and work in diamond, textile and other sectors. During Diwali festival vacations, they visit their native places. Keeping this in mind, the state government has decided to run 2,200 extra buses from Surat to other parts of the state such as Saurashtra, North Gujarat, Panchmahal and Maharashtra,” he said.

GSRTC authorities said passengers should contact the state transport (ST) department to avail online or offline booking of group tickets or single tickets for the upcoming journey. A round-the-clock toll-free number (1800233666666) has also been made available for the same.
“In Gujarat, the BJP government is involved in increasing the number of buses day by day to reach those areas that do not have bus connectivity. Currently, around 8,000 buses run daily covering a distance of around 33 lakh kilometres benefitting over 25 lakh people,” Sanghavi added.
He also emphasised that the procedures for new recruitments in the ST department are on verge of completion. “New buses are inducted into the ST department and we are moving ahead with a goal to reach each and every village across the state,” he said.
