Notification for polls in Capital to be issued on Saturday

The notification for election to the seven Lok Sabha seats and by-election to an Assembly seat in the national capital will be issued tomorrow,kicking-off the start of filing nominations.

The notification for election to the seven Lok Sabha seats and by-election to an Assembly seat in the national capital will be issued tomorrow,kicking-off the start of filing nominations.

The returning officers of the seven constituencies and the Assembly seat of Rohtas Nagar will issue a public notice on Saturday to start receiving nomination papers,a senior election official told reporters here.

As per schedule,last date for filing and scrutiny of nominations is April 18 and April 20 respectively while last date of withdrawal of candidature is April 22.

The elections in all the constituencies and the Assembly seat will be held on May 7 while date of counting is May 16.

“A candidate may present his nomination paper on the very day of the notification i.e. tomorrow or on any of the days till April 18 except on public holiday,” the official added.

Rohtas Nagar Assembly seat fell vacant after its sitting MLA Ram Babu Sharma died early this year. The seven Parliamentary constituencies are New Delhi,South Delhi,East Delhi,North-east Delhi,North-west Delhi,West Delhi and Chandni Chowk.
