The Noida Authority has announced a plan to start an Emergency Response Centre (ERC),which will be a coordinated effort between police,Fire department and the District Hospital. While each department has a dedicated helpline number, people will now be able to call the centre for all kinds of emergencies. The centre will forward calls to the appropriate department.

As reported by Newsline reported on May 8,the phone will be answered by call centre employees trained in “sensitivity”. Police, fire and health officials will always be present at the centre.

Speaking at the general body meeting on Monday,Noida Authority CEO Sanjeev Saran said the service will become operational by August 15. “We have made space for the Emergency Response Centre in one wing of the District Hospital in Sector 30. So far,we have acquired two ambulances specifically for calls made to the centre,as well as a hearse van.”

Officials said,“The basic concept is that there will be one phone number with several lines. This ensures that the number is not engaged during an emergency. Police and the fire department will get information sooner, resulting in faster action.”
