Wiith a new building and a swanky office,Pune Zilla Parishad has decided to add another feature to give itself a corporate look. From September 5,all the Zilla Parishad employees have been asked to sport their ID cards as they enter office, failing which they will face disciplinary action.

“We have a new building and all the amenities in office. It is time we also adapt ourselves to a corporate environment. We have started with introducing laminated ID cards for the employees, which they are expected to wear,’’ said ZP CEO Anil Kawade. The system is also part of improving the security of the building. Employees will be frisked at the entrance.

From the CEO to the employees, everyone will have wear the ID cards, while peons and drivers have been given uniforms. The plan to incorporate this new rule was decided,a few months back. The decision to initiate the process was to start on September 1. However,it will now be in place from September 5.

To ensure security, there will be checks at the entrance, and all department heads will have to ensure that the rule is followed. Earlier, there were complaints of people walking in and out of the office and not being at work for the stipulated time. The department heads will have ensure that officials work for the required number of hours.

The operation being followed is of a corporate style. ID cards, proper record of entry and exit, total number of working hours and even behavioural conduct are part of the operations. Drivers and peons in uniforms will add to the look,Kawade said. He added that guests from across the country,as well as abroad, visited the office to see how it functioned. “With a huge building and all the modern amenities, these small changes will definitely give it a different feel,” Zawade said.

ZP officials are also looking at a more disciplinary approach to their functions. Apart from taking action against those who bunk work, employees, who fail to abide by the new rules, will also be punished.

With the new building inaugurated last year, officials were keen to get out new directives. It took nearly 17 years for ZP to adorn its new look. The present building has CCTV cameras,LCD projectors and centrally air-conditioned auditoriums.
