Youth lighting crackers on road ‘attempts to kill’ man in car for honking at him

As per the complaint, Salim was driving his car, when near Qureshi Masjid, he began honking at Ayan who was lighting crackers on the road. At this, Ayan allegedly lost his temper and allegedly shouted at Salim for honking, the police said, adding that he even attacked him with a sharp knife.

Pune city police have arrested a youngster who allegedly attacked a car driver with a knife just because he sounded the horn after seeing the youth lighting crackers on the road. The incident took place around 11.30 pm on Friday near Qureshi Masjid in Pune Camp area.

The man driving the car —Salim Hussain Qureshi (52)— who lives in Deccan Tower in Pune Camp, lodged the FIR in this case at Lashkar police station on Saturday.

Police arrested the assailant — Ayan Qureshi (20) — who lives in Bhimpura, Pune Camp. As per the complaint, Salim was driving his car, when near Qureshi Masjid, he began honking at Ayan who was lighting crackers on the road. At this, Ayan allegedly lost his temper and allegedly shouted at Salim for honking, the police said, adding that he even attacked him with a sharp knife. Salim was injured in the incident.

Police arrested Ayan under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 506 (criminal intimidation), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
