Youngsters nab thief with booty worth Rs 2.4 lakh

In yet another incident,citizens nabbed a thief who was climbing down a pipe of a building in Somwar Peth after stealing ornaments,cash and other valuables worth Rs 2.4 lakh.

In yet another incident,citizens nabbed a thief who was climbing down a pipe of a building in Somwar Peth after stealing ornaments,cash and other valuables worth Rs 2.4 lakh.

The thief was nabbed by two youngsters and handed over to the police in the early hours of Monday.

The suspect has been identified as Mahesh Ramkumar Thakur (21),resident of Ramabai Ambedkar slums in Hadapsar. The complaint in the case was lodged by Madhuri Ratnakar Dabhade (41),resident of P V Prestige in Somwar Peth.

Police said Thakur broke into Dabhade’s apartment by tampering with the lock latches and stole gold,silver ornaments,digital camera,wrist watch and cash,all amounting to Rs 2,44,400 around 12 pm.

He was then descending the pipe with the stolen booty and trying to flee from the spot. But two youngsters Abhay Deepak Yadav (21) and Musa Mehboob Shaikh (26),both residents of the same area,spotted Thakur.

The duo nabbed Thakur and handed him over to the police. Thakur was booked under section 454 and 380 of Indian Penal Code at the Samartha police station.
