A woman, who left her bag with a gold chain worth Rs 6.75 lakh in auto rickshaw, managed to get it back in two days after Pimpri Chinchwad police traced the vehicle and returned it to her.
A press release issued Monday by senior police inspector Vitthal Salunkhe stated that Pratibha Pravin Kale, 35, of Jayhind residence in Chikhali took an auto rickshaw from Nevale Wasti around 5 pm on April 11. She got out of the autorickshaw at Chikhali Gaon around 5.20 pm only to realise that she forgot to take her bag with the gold chain weighing about 750 grams.
She approached the Chikhali police station for help. She did not remember the number of the autorickshaw. So a team led by assistant police inspector Ram Gomare checked videos from CCTV cameras at different spots and identified the autorickshaw.
Cops then reached the autorickshaw driver Balu Jadhav, who resides near Chikhali bus stop. Jadhav had kept the woman’s bag safely and handed it over to the police immediately.
Assistant police inspector Gomare said the missing gold chain was returned to the owner on Monday. Autorickshaw driver Balu Jadhav was also felicitated by the police for his honesty.
