A fire brigade team, led by Fire Officer Sanjay Ramteke, which rushed to the spot found that six people, including two visitors and four hospital staff members, consisting of three men and a woman, were stuck inside the elevator.

Six people, including a woman, were stuck inside the elevator of the new 11-story building at Sassoon General Hospital for 40 minutes before they were rescued by the Pune Fire Brigade team on Friday afternoon.
The Pune Fire Brigade’s control room received a call around 11:50 am reporting that an elevator carrying several people had become stuck between the fourth and fifth floors of a Sassoon Hospital building due to a technical failure.
A fire brigade team, led by Fire Officer Sanjay Ramteke, which rushed to the spot found that six people, including two visitors and four hospital staff members, consisting of three men and a woman, were stuck inside the elevator.
A group of firefighters rushed to the terrace of the 11-storey building to find an approach while others placed a fan to ensure proper airflow inside the elevator.
“Finally, the firefighters, with the assistance of elevator company staff, managed to get the elevator to the seventh floor and then forced open its doors and rescued the six individuals at around 12:32 pm,” Ramteke said.
After the rescue, the group were provided immediate support as they were shocked and distressed.
