UP man held for sending dummy candidate for BRO exams, caught during verification

Earlier this month, police arrested 21-year-old Anirjay Yadav, a resident of Ferozabad, Uttar Pradesh, who asked another person to appear in his place for the ‘Group C’ position exam at BRO School and Centre.

The Pune City Police arrested a 22-year-old man for cheating as he assigned another man to write his exam for a ‘Group C’ position at the Border Road Organisation (BRO) School and Centre in Dhanori area. This is the fourth such case detected since March this year.

Police have identified the accused as Pushpendra Kumar Kisanlal, a resident of Sadabad in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh. An official at the BRO lodged a complaint against the accused at the Vishrantwadi police station.

Police said a person, who identified himself as Pushpendra Kumar Kisanlal, had appeared for the written and physical examination for a ‘Group C’ position conducted by the BRO a few some days ago. When Kisanlal came to the BRO in Pune on Friday morning for verification of documents, the officials at BRO found that his face was not matching with the photographs on his admit card that was used to appear for the examinations conducted earlier.

Sub-inspector Nitin Rathod, the investigating officer of the case, said during verification, BRO officials found that a dummy candidate had appeared in place of Kisanlal for the examinations. After the complaint lodged by the BRO official, police registered an FIR against Kisanlal and booked him under Sections 419 (cheating by personation) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC.

Police have also booked the unidentified dummy candidate, who appeared for the BRO exams in Kisanlal’s place.

Last month, police arrested two people from UP and one from Haryana in connection with dummy candidates taking a written exam that was conducted for the post of ‘multi-skilled worker and driller’ at BRO School and Centre. In March, police arrested two people, one of whom was sitting as a dummy candidate taking a written exam for the post of a ‘cook’ at the GREF Centre Border Roads Organisation of the Ministry of Defence.
