Manthan Shah and Fauzia Meherally on Sunday won titles in the Junior boys and girls (U-18) category at the Le Meridien Players Cup table tennis tournament being played at Deccan Gymkhana. Shah,the seventh seed prevailed over top seeded Adwait Brahme 1-5,8-11,5-11,11-8,15-13,7-11,11-5 in a game where the balance tilted constantly. Meherally,the second seed,dispatched top seed Manasi Munj 11-6,11-9,8-11,10-12,11-4,11-4. In the womens singles quarterfinals,Manasi Chhajed beat Sayali Deshpande while Manasi Munj beat Yamini Meherally while Fauzia Meherally beat Ujwala Gaikwad. Top seed Divya Deshpande made short work of Niharika Jathar in the last match of the day. In the veterans singles quarterfinals,Ramesh Shirolikar,Nitin Kulkarni,Guru Nadgauda and Ronnie Todiwala booked semifinal berths. Deepak Kadam,Neel Joshi,Adwait Brahme,Martand Biniwale,Anuj Bhave,Atul Bapat and Chinmay Datar all booked quarterfinal berths in the mens singles category.
