Three cheat defence staffer of Rs 1,600 on highway

THREE PERSONS cheated a defence staffer of Rs 1,600 by falsely claiming that his motorcycle tyre has 16 punctures. The victim has lodged an FIR in this connection at Yerwada police station.

Police said the complainant was going from Viman Nagar to the Command Hospital on a motorcycle on November 28. One of the accused approached the complainant near Ramwadi Jakat Naka on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway around 11 am saying there was less air in his motorcycle tyre.

The accused asked the complainant to check the motorcycle at the tyre repair centre on the road-side. Two accused persons at the centre told the complainant that there are 16 punctures in the tyre. The accused persons further forced the complainant to pay Rs 1,600 saying they have repaired the tyre.

Police said there was no puncture in the tyre, still the accused took money from the complainant. So he lodged a complaint with the police against the three accused. Assistant police inspector Ravindra Alekar said a search is on for the accused persons. Police have booked them under sections 420, 427, 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
