Edu board wants to start school at Sundew Apts
Pune: Pune Municipal Corporation education board chairperson Sangeeta Tiwari on Saturday urged the Municipal Commissioner in a letter to let the board start a school at the Sundew Apartment. The civic body had taken over the apartment on Prabhat Road on Friday. “I have written a letter to the PMC chief today,seeking permission to start a Marathi medium e-learning school (to be called Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad School),similar to the Rajiv Gandhi e-learning school we recently started. We also plan to start a teacher’s training centre there.”
Railway Mail Service staff on strike
The Railway Mail Service and Mail Motor Service staff in Maharashtra and Goa circle have gone on an indefinite strike from November 3 in protest against the closure of sections L-26 and F-28 of the Railway Mail Service. Postal services director (Pune Region) R K Jayebhaye said they had made necessary arrangements in Pune,Satara,Solapur and Ahmednagar to ensure proper running of the service and processing transmission. The proposal for the closure was sent to the postal directorate after being duly examined by the circle office,Mumbai. It was then approved by the chief post master general of Maharashtra and Goa and Postal directorate,New Delhi. About Rs 94 lakh was being paid every year to the railways as haulage charges for each section.
