The affected tenants, who are now planning to move Bombay High Court to claim their land, have received support from Mohan Dharia among other social leaders.
Dharia, who was closely associated with the construction of Netaji Society and believed to have made available the land for it being in the then government, has written to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, stating that a grave injustice has been done to the Society residents. Late Atur Sangtani (then managing director of MSHCL) and I had purchased the land for the society. It was agreed that in due course, the ownership of the land will be transferred to members of the society. Unfortunately, the department concerned is not ready to part with the land, though they have not paid even a single farthing in this whole transaction, his letter read.
