Manasi Chajjed and Chinmay Datar won the women's and men's titles at the Mate Real District Ranking badminton tournament,beating Fauzia Meherally and Rohit Choudhary in their respective finals. Chajjed defeated Meherally 9-11,11-6,11-9,9-11,11-5,11-9 in the women's final,a match that was in the balance for the first four games before Chajjed pulled away with title-winning momentum. Datar,meanwhile,beat Choudhary 12-10,11-9,4-11,11-9,1-11,11-7,building up a 3-1 lead before losing a very one-sided fifth game 1-11. But any concerns that he had run out of steam were unfounded,as he calmly took the next game 11-7 to take the crown. Datar was in contention for the Youth Boys' title as well,but lost out in the final to Shubhankar Ranade,who won 9-11,5-11,6-11,11-5,11-9,11-8,11-7. Yamani Meherally,meanwhile took the Youth Girls' title,beating Ujjwala Gaikwad 9-11,11-9,11-8,11-7,11-4 in the final. Gaikwad had defeated Manasi Chajjed on her way to the final. Chaure stars in Barclays win A brace from Kailash Chaure was the highlight of Barclays' comprehensive 5-0 win over SQS India in the Maharashtra Krida inter-IT football tournament. Chaure's 13th minute goal set Barclays on their way to an easy victory,with Subhash Pande doubling their lead in the 38th minute,Chaure scoring his second in the 40th minute and Felix Fernandez finding the net three minutes later before Siddhesh Rampal rounded things off with a goal in the 51st minute.
