The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has urged residents to prioritise solutions for various civic issues so that projects for the smart city mission could be designed. “A total of 3,07,991 citizens participated in the first step of field survey to prepare the smart city plan. They decided the vision and highlighted civic issues,” said municipal commissioner Kunal Kumar.
The next step includes prioritising solutions for these issues and citizens should contribute till October 12, Kumar said, adding that the participation should be through the online process on http://www.punesmartcity.in or through 800 volunteers and staff at ward offices. “The PMC would also encourage citizens participation by giving gift vouchers to a few participating in the exercise,” he further said.
Puneites have a vision for a clean city. Among the smart city features, around 30 per cent gave importance to improving transportation and mobility, 25 per cent gave priority to water supply and sewage, 22 per cent to waste and sanitation, 12 per cent to environment and sustainability, and 3 per cent to safety and security.
