AFTER NCPs recently joined hands in the Chandgad local self government body poll in Kolhapur, now both Shiv Sena factions have come together in the Chakan Nagar Parishad polls.

On the last day of filing of nomination papers on Monday, leaders of both the Shiv Senas were present when Manisha Gore of Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde filed her papers.

Manisha Gore is the wife of late MLA Suresh Gore. She filed her papers for the presidency of the Chakan Nagar Parishad. When she filed her nomination papers, MLA Babaji Kale Sena-UBT and Sharad Sonawane of Shiv Sena were present besides other leaders and party workers.

Speaking on the occasion, Babaji Kale said, ”After the death of MLA Suresh Kale of Khed-Alandi, this is the first election. His wife is contesting the election for the presidency of the Nagar Parishad. Therefore, for Manisha Gore we have kept politics aside and have decided to support her. This is our tribute to the late leader…we want to ensure his wife’s victory.”

Stating that their action does not amount to any alliance between the two parties, Kale said, ”Our move should not be seen as an alliance. In 2014, Suresh Gore was the Shiv Sena MLA. However, he died during the Covid period. I have been the MLA of the original Shiv Sena from 2024. When I contested the election, Manisha Gore and her entire family were present at our rallies. She had openly campaigned for me. Now she is fighting for the presidency. Therefore, as a tribute to Suresh Gore we are supporting her. Our aim is to ensure her unopposed victory.”

Kale said in Chakan city, Manish Gore will have massive support. ”We decided that we will not field a candidate against her in view of the work done by her husband Suresh Gore. When she filed her nomination papers, I and my party leaders were present. We have extended our support to her. We appeal to everyone to ensure her victory unopposed. I want to clarify however that we have not forged any alliance for the Nagar Parishad election,” he said.
