Amid the buzz of cousins Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray joining hands, the uncle-nephew duo of NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar met for the second time on Monday in the last 15 days, sparking speculations in political circles.

Both Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar came together on the occasion of meeting of Vasantdada Institute. The institute, which has its main premises at Manjari, also has an office at Shivajinagar where the two leaders met. ”Sharad Pawar is the founder of the institute while I am the trustee of the institute,” said Ajit Pawar.

Following the meeting, Ajit Pawar, while speaking to reporters, said, ”The engagement ceremony of my son was our family matter…Coming together for a family event is an internal matter of the Pawar family.”

“We attend meetings of various institutes. At Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, we discussed the use of AI for effective functioning. At such meetings, we sit together. If farmers are going to benefit through such meetings, then we should be attending it,” said the Deputy CM.

Ajit Pawar said the meeting should not be viewed from a political lens. ”Some subjects are beyond political sphere. Elections are over. People have expectations from us. Exchanging information is part of our culture,” he said.

About the institute’s meeting, Ajit Pawar said,”We discussed about use of AI for increasing production of sugarcane, cotton, soyabean, rice and onion. A financial assistance of Rs 500 crore will be provided. We have to ensure that farmers benefit. Use of AI will ensure that entire farming sector gains. I also shared information about what role the state government will play on this front,” he said.

Meanwhile, reacting to the meeting of the Thackeray cousins and the uncle-nephew duo, NCP (SP) MP from Baramati Supriya Sule said, ”For the interest of Maharashtra, I think everyone should come together.”

Both Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar parted ways in June 2022 when the latter walked away with 40 MLAs. Ajit Pawar now heads the NCP while Sharad Pawar heads the NCP (S-P).
