Sexual harassment case filed against SPPU student

The victim stated in her FIR that the accused accosted her on campus in at least two instances and sent her inappropriate text messages. The matter was picked up by the Akhil Bharatiya parishad (ABVP) on Friday who demanded the accused’s expulsion from the university.

Meanwhile, NSUI denounced the incident and suspended the accused’s primary membership. Maharashtra president of NSUI Amir Shaikh said, “NSUI has zero tolerance for incidents like these. I have spoken with the victim and assured her of full support… We will take strict action if we find that any other NSUI members were involved in the same.”

The registrar-in-charge of SPPU Vijay Khare said, “We will extend full support to whatever investigation is needed. The university’s Internal Complaints Committee did not get any complaint from the concerned student before. Since the matter was taken directly to the police, it will be handled accordingly. The accused student’s enrollment will end in June as it is.”
