(File)The Pune City police allegedly rescued three women, including one from Turkmenistan, from a sex racket following a raid at a hotel in the plush Koregaon Park area. A hotel staffer was also arrested during the raid.
Officers identified the arrested man as Aditya Anilkumar Singh, 31, currently residing near German Bakery in Koregaon Park. A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at the Koregaon Park police station against Singh and a sex trafficking agent under sections 143 (trafficking of person) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.
“The woman from Turkmenistan came to India in August on a medical visa. A probe is on to ascertain how she came in contact with the sex racketeers in India….,” said Ashalata Khapre, a Senior Police Inspector with the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Pune City police’s Crime Branch.

Soon after the decoy customer confirmed prostitution on the premises, the police team raided the hotel and rescued three women, including a native of Turkmenistan and two from Delhi. The police said the sex racketeer, who has been named in the FIR, had allegedly lured the woman for prostitution.
Khapre said the sex racketeers allegedly booked the hotel rooms through a popular travel website. “A local court has remanded accused Aditya Singh in police custody till November 24 for further investigation. We are searching for the sex racketeer who was in contact with him,” the officer said.
