Severed head found floating on water in Maharashtra’s Mutha river

At around 1 pm on Tuesday, some people saw the head flowing in the river water between Tilak Bridge and Shivaji bridge near PMC.

A severed head of an unidentified man aged between 30 and 40 years was found floating on the water in Mutha river on Tuesday afternoon. Based on the cut that has separated the head from the torso, police suspect it to be a case of murder and have started a search for the remaining body and other leads. At around 1 pm on Tuesday, some people saw the head flowing in the river water between Tilak Bridge and Shivaji bridge near PMC.

Senior inspector NV Jadhav, in-charge of Shivajinagar police station, said, “The severed head was seen by some people, who reported it to the control room. The cut, that has separated the head from the body, shows that it is a case of murder. Based on the condition of the head, it seems that the death occurred three to four days ago. A case of murder will be registered. There are no clues about the man’s identity as of now. Our teams have started a search along the river banks, riverbed and surrounding areas for the remaining body, body parts or any other clues.”
